SugarJack Gabi Ltd. Edition Bag $729

Sugarjack is a new, luxury line of diaper bags from the U.K., just now available in the U.S.  Created by stylish parents who weren’t willing to compromise on style, quality and function while they carried a diaper bag, Sugarjack bags are made of the finest leather and boast of their signature removable baby organizer.  These bags are genius and gorgeous!!  The organizer has room for all of the baby items you could possibly need while on-the-go with baby, and then snaps out easily for mom to have a stunning handbag when she is out child-free or is ready to shed the baby bag altogether!

All Sugarjack bags come in a keepsake box that can be used to save baby’s special items.   A bamboo bag contains the accessory pack which includes a thermal bottle holder, a pvc pouch for wet items and a pvc wipe clean travel changing pad.  The bamboo bag is anti-bacterial so is ideal to use in the nursery as a laundry bag.  Every item is designed with the long term in mind, so that you can keep using every part of the package.  Each diaper bag has internal hooks so that the bags can be attached to any stroller using Buggy Clips, which may be purchased for $30.

The whole collection is available on the Sugarjack site ($385 and up), including the ‘oliver’ which is a satchel bag designed specifically for the style conscious daddy.  Sugarjack bags must be ordered by December 10th for guaranteed holiday delivery.

Today on “The 10! Show” I featured the Gabi, a Ltd. Edition bag; only one hundred of this style will ever be made and each one has it’s own unique number on a silver plated disc just inside the organizer.   This bag will be raffled to a lucky mom-to-be at the Expectant Parent Bootcamp which we are pleased to be partnering with the Please Touch Museum to present on January 21, 2012!

Indigo Night personalized night sky poster $49 to $109

Personalized Night Sky posters are a totally unique, very thoughtful and meaningful gift.  I love the idea of giving this as a new baby gift to proud parents who probably have all of the gear, clothing and toys they could possibly need!  A small group of illustrators, artists, writers, and astronomers work together to create a rendering of a local view of the true night sky for the latitude and longitude of your location, on the date you specify.  The print includes a description of that night’s Night Sky; you select an illustration to go with sky and add personalization – a headline and message (There are a ton of samples on their website).  A basic 14×18” print is just $49 and a framed one is $109.  A separate, detailed starmap is included with each print, naming the constellations, planets and stars shown in the print.  Turn around time is pretty quick- they can be shipped out about three days from order date.

Em Tanner Designs personalized gifts $12 to $65

Em Tanner Designs is my go-to for birthday shirts, big brother/little sister shirts and holiday gifts for teachers, caregivers, and bus drivers!  They have everything you can think of and more that can be personalized in a variety of ways, but our favorites for gifting are the “Me 2 a Tee” items!  Each year my kids create a character that looks like their teachers and we order them water bottles or if they are known coffee drinkers, a closed-top tumbler.  Useful and created by their student, these are a huge hit every year!  Order now to allow for holiday delivery!!

Creative Baby iMat $69.99

The Creative Baby iMat is an brand new toy perfect for the older toddler or preschooler in your life.  These won’t be available to order until next week.  The iMat is an interactive, soft play mat and magic pen that is great fun to play with.  The magic pen can be used in Language Mode to name objects it touches on the pad in English, Spanish and Chinese, and can also be used in Game Mode to play interactive games.  The “My Animal World” iMat is the first in a series.  So fun!

Isotoner SmarTouch gloves

Isotoner SmarTouch gloves are a great gift for anyone on your list! These gloves that have conductive thread that conveys an electrical impulse to touchscreens, allowing the wearer to operate their smartphone, MP3, GPS, etc., all while keeping their fingers cozy!  Isotoner SmarTouch gloves are super comfortable and offer more flexibility than other touch gloves on the market.  Available in leather, knit, fleece-lined and a variety of colors, and for $12 – $38, these are great for teachers, sitters, and stocking stuffers for parents on-the-go!

On “The 10! Show” with family organization tips & products!

Philadelphia’s premier baby planner, Shannon Choe of Premier Baby Concierge, was on “The 10! Show,” highlighting some favorite products for families to get organized! Whether toys are taking over your living room or looking for hints to help you  keep on track with New Year’s Resolutions, we have some great tools to share!

  • Great toy organization is key!  There are countless bins and shelves and baskets out there.  It’s a great idea to survey the options before jumping in because, as with all organization, you need the right tools for the job. (Not to mention, some organization items are a bit of an investment!)  Thinking ahead can lead to a better looking playroom (consistently colored or shaped bins that really fit what you are trying to sort and store), and can save you from having to re-vamp your system to grow with your child(ren).  One great option:
  • Skip Hop Bin-go & Bin-go Soft Diaper Caddy.  www.skiphop.com.  ((Note: We love these, and are sad to learn that although they were just sent us, they are no longer available on the Skip Hop website.  You can find most colors (higher price tag, though) at Albee Baby.)  These tote-able, sturdy canvas bins are great because they are super kid-friendly and fold flat when not in use.  Bonus: Bin-gos are monogramable (Think names, or better yet, types of toys!  ”Cars” “Dolls,” etc. Ah, our OCD side is showing!)  TIP:  In addition to labeling by word, try labeling by photos for toddlers to encourage them to help in the clean up process!
  • The Bin-go Soft Diaper Caddy holds plenty of diapers (up to 36), a wipes case and other essentials in the outer pockets.  These are great for by the changing table, for setting up a secondary changing station in a family room, even for keeping a stash of diapers and change of clothes in the trunk.
  • The Glow Baby, “Baby’s First Journal” www.glowbaby.com ($15.99) is a great way to track baby’s basic needs: feeding, sleeping, diapering and bathing.  It allows exhausted new parents to not have to remember all of these details and also to take note of patterns that may develop.  It’s a great communication tool to share with a care giver or grandparent as well, who can see at a glance what the day has looked like and will become a keepsake.
  • Glow Baby’s “Baby’s First Foods” www.glowbaby.com ($15.99) is another great log for when parents introduce solids and track reactions to new foods.  It’s divided by common food groups and again, offers a terrific way to be sure that everyone has access to important info regarding baby!
  • Boon offers many great organizational products.  Frog Pod www.booninc.com ($34.99) offers parents a cute and efficient way to keep the bathtub toys and baby wash tidy.  It adheres to the the wall and the scoop had holes to let water drain out, reducing the chance of toys getting mildewy.  Again, the scoop is a great, developmentally appropriate way to involve kids in clean up and train them that it’s the final step in playtime.
  • Created by a mom of four, AboutOne.com www.aboutone.com ($5/month or $30/year) is an awesome new family information management system that allows busy families to keep all of their info and memories in one digital filing system.   It’s a game-changer, unlike anything I’ve seen before.  The best three points of this service are that your information is accessible anytime, anywhere from a computer, cell phone, etc., all the while offering bank-level security.  We’re talking all of your contacts, household repair receipts, report cards, kids artwork, etc.!  You can get started at any point, storing new info in seconds (by emailing or scanning) and you don’t have to go back and enter previous history.   And my personal favorite, is the awesome reports and newsletters and other products the system can auto-create, pulling from the info you’ve already entered.  (Want to send Grandma a monthly update with photos but never find the time?  This means you!)  You can even send snail mail cards to an individual or your entire holiday card list with free envelope labeling, standard postage rates and 10% off cards through a partnership AboutOne.com has with card companies!  So cool.
  • We feature a lot of diaper bags throughout the year, but of course for a segment on organization, we’ve got to select carefully!  This was surprisingly easy as the Skip Hop Bento Bag www.skiphop.com ($99) is a no-brainer for the win in innovation and functionality for the family on-the-go!  It comes with their insulated Mealtime Kit with Clix containers and a perfect-fit freezer pack keep food fresh.  Of course there are plenty of pockets, a padded changing pad, an adjustable strap.  It’s BPA-, PVC- and Phthalate-Free and has patented Shuttle Clips so it can attach to any stroller.
  • A great find for organizing your purse is the Card Cache www.thecardcache.com ($13 and up).  This ingenious little gadget organizes all of your cards big and small that may be cramping your wallet’s style or floating around your purse.  You pick your Card Cache, then personalize with a little pen, hook, calendar, etc.  Carefully punch holes in your various cards and add them to your Card Cache and you’re off!

We always have too many finds to share in our segments!  Will share more great organization products in the coming days…

On “The 10! Show” with Premier Picks for holiday giving.

Philadelphia’s first & premier baby planner, Shannon Choe, founder of Premier Baby Concierge shared some “last minute” holiday gift ideas for the whole family.  As of airtime, all of these were available for Holiday delivery- but deadlines vary, so move quick!

Don’t make it all about the bump or babe!  Pamper the new mom or mom-to-be on your list with a gift certificate to a local spa.  This is one gift card that doesn’t say, “I wasn’t sure what to get you!”  If you’re in Philly, I suggest the Tommi Lifestyle Boutique. My wedding photographer, Tom Wong, and his wife Nikki are the founders of this new one-of-a-kind spot offering services for wedding and non-wedding clients:  photography (including maternity photos!), salon & spa services, even cosmetic dentistry, all under one roof!  Their new 7th & Chestnut location is beautiful and tranquil.  www.tommistudio.com

The Go Gaga  Slide ($118) is a really unique, unisex bag that will appeal to the diaper bag toting set, as well as anyone who buckles under the pressure of an ill-fitting strap!  Introducing the patent-pending Urban Sherpa Strap designed to distribute weight over your shoulder and back.  The Slide also sports a very practical insulated bottle pocket that fits adult water bottles or baby bottles and is easily accessible with one hand.  Comes with the Stuff Sack (great “wet bag”) and Nomad Changing Pad.  The Urban Sherpa Strap alone is a great stocking stuffer at $28 for anyone on your list!  Shop at www.diapers.com and use the code:  GOGAGASAVE to save 10%.

Wooden toys for all the girls and boys on your list!  With all of the concern around plastics, BPA and lead paint, you can’t go wrong with wood toys and teethers.  They’re natural and durable.  HABA of Germany has long been the name in great developmental wooden toys and can be found on www.amazon.com.  We love their tagline:  “Inventive Playthings for Inquisitive Minds.”

Little Passports is a great gift for the big bro and sis on your list! ($11.95 and up).  This award-winning, educational gift introduces the child to a new country each month through goodies, letters, souvenirs, stickers delivered by mail and paired with online games.  It’s a gift that starts with a special Little Passports suitcase and stimulates all year long!

We love these cute personalized ornaments from Timeless Designs & Monograms!  Choose from Big Brother or Sister; Baby’s 1st Christmas and more!  Add up to 2 lines of personalization (included!). Enter code: “the10show” on www.tdmembroidery.com to receive 10% off your order!

A great gift for those far or near!  Send a Recordable Storybook from Hallmark ($29.95)!  With three holiday titles and twelve every day titles available, these books are super easy to record, and more importantly, to set and save from accidental erase (hello little fingers!).  From grandkids to grandparents, far away relatives to baby, parents to child, these books are great keepsakes and a great way to share a story all year long, even when loved ones can’t be there.

Our suggestion for teaching kids about being thankful and a time-saving Thank You note solution:  Print Art Kids notecards. Every year we do an assembly-line production of handprint thank you notes so the family can have this keepsake and to start the conversation about the importance of being appreciative of gifts and expressing thanks.  This year, we can send one such creation to Print Art Kids to create custom thank you notecards.  They can turn any artwork or photograph into custom note- or postcards, return address labels, note pads, etc.!  There are no limitations to artwork:  glitter? googly eyes? oversized paper?  No problem, just take a digital photo!   Bonus:  they use earth friendly products and recycled paper.

On The 10! Show with “Premier Picks” from the ABC Kids Expo

The ABC (All Baby & Child) Expo is a private industry tradeshow- the largest juvenile product tradeshow there is. With over 1 million square feet of exhibit space and 900+ exhibitors, it’s a baby planner’s playground!  Every year, we scout out the coolest, newest, most innovative, most improved, most hip offerings from industry leading companies and the specialty boutiques and one-off mom- and dad-preneurs alike.  Here are a few of our faves, our “Premier Picks,”from this year’s show featured on NBC’s The Ten Show:

Rooz Kidz! Jacket, www.roozkidz.com, $49.99

Never lose a mitten again with this so-cozy-YOU-want-to-climb-in machine washable jacket with attached, fold-away mittens.  Pre-order sizes 1-6 now and they’ll ship on February ’11.

Baby Temp Touch Free Thermometer, www.thermomedics.com, $59.99

Empty your medicine cabinet of all of the non-working or inconsistent thermometers you’ve collected over the years to make room for the Baby Temp Touch Free Thermometer!  Without jabbing into baby’s ear or nether-regions, the Baby Temp will accurately assess body temperature via infrared and report back in your choice of three languages, or silently for those middle-of-the-night checks.

First Years Home & Away Monitor www.sunshinekidsbaby.com $189.99

We’re big fans of video monitors and The First Years Home & Away Monitor has several great features including a 3.5 inch screen, clear picture, 650 foot range and the all-important rechargeable feature for the parent unit.  But the big news is that it’s the only video monitor that allows you to see, hear and talk back to baby from anywhere- the office, a business trip, etc., via a PC using Skype.  There are different permissions, so not everyone can see into the nursery.  Those you add to the  “auto answer” list can  connect any time system is hooked up, while others, like Grandmom, will need to call in and have her call accepted via the monitor. (Available in March ‘11)

Em’s 4 Kids, www.earmuffsforkids.com, $24.99-$29.99

Created by a Dadpreneur from Australia, Em’s 4 Kids (18mos & up) and Em’s 4 Bubs (up to 18mo) are the only earmuffs available worldwide offer hearing protection for little ears, reducing noise by 22 decibels.  They’re great to have on hand for use at fireworks, music concerts, near power boats or at motor racing events and day to day use by anyone with sensitive hearing, including those with autism.

The Mother Co. “Ruby’s Studio: The Feelings Show” www.TheMotherCo.com, $19.99

As a mom, former nanny, teacher and child care center owner, I love the mission and products of the Mother Company.  A couple of moms were unsatisfied with the content for the entertainment options for their 3-6 year olds and set out to create their own high quality DVDs, iPhone apps, books and related products focused on social and emotional learning.  Mission accomplished! In their first DVD, The Feelings Show, we follow Ruby on a fun, magical journey through art projects, animation, original songs and hilariously insightful interviews with real kids.  Kid tested with rave reviews at my house!

My Blue Bumbershoot, www.mybluebumbershoot.com, $49.99

Two Philadelphia lawyers turned moms became entrepreneurs when they designed the first hands-free umbrella for stroller “chauffeurs.”  It fits virtually all strollers with a simple clamp, is adjustable for height and rain direction, and stores right on the stroller when not in use.  Available in January ’11.

Peg Perego Pliko Switch $399.99 & Primo Viaggio Car Seat $249, www.pegperegousa.com

The Peg Perego Pliko Switch offers all of the bells and whistles of a high quality stroller with 5 point harness, multi-level recline, one hand umbrella style folding and self-standing feature when folded, and height adjustable handles.  Better still is that if you have the stroller and car seat, you have options and flexibility.  Use the chassis as a snap n’ go style system or depending on the day’s activities, use the stroller seat.  Both can be installed facing in or out- so easy!
